Let’s get to the point. Why have values if you’re not going to live them?
Here’s a sad fact: a staggering number of organizations are full of hot air when it comes to their so-called “values”. They spend time and money crafting elaborate values statements and plaster them on walls, then pat themselves on the back for a job well done. Meanwhile, most of their employees couldn’t share the organization’s values, let alone describe how they impact organizational behaviour.
So, how do you keep engagement bubbly?
Values aren’t just words on a wall, they’re the actions you take when no one’s looking. They’re not your company’s screensaver, they’re your daily playbook. If your so-called values aren’t shaping every decision, guiding every interaction, and driving every move you make, they’re not values. At the end of the day, your values aren’t what you say they are, they’re what you do. And when you do it right, it impacts your business more than you can imagine.
Don’t believe us? The numbers don’t lie. Only 27% of employees actually care about their company’s values. Even worse, only 23% can apply these values to their daily work. Seems like a big miss to us.
