All Projects | Case Study: BC Hydro for Team Power Smart

BC Hydro builds awareness one brick at a time

results

This campaign is still in-market, and final metrics have not yet been documented. Results will be posted at the end of April 2012 when this Team Power Smart contest closes.

strategy

Smak sourced Canada’s only Certified LEGO Professional, Robin Sather, to build a drafty castle door entirely out of LEGO bricks, which stands 10 feet wide by 7 feet tall. The drafty door, complete with breeze, draws on the importance of draftproofing a home to be more Power Smart and to save more money. To reflect this LEGO door online, Pound & Grain built a custom microsite that features a time-lapsed video of Robin building the drafty door. This microsite is being sent to Team Power Smart members via BC Hydro’s monthly Connected Newsletter, and asks members to watch the video and then guess how many bricks it took to build the drafty door. Prizing includes LEGO sets and Telus World of Science Memberships.

challenge

There are approximately 344,000 Team Power Smart members across British Columbia, and smak was asked to create an exclusive and rewarding online experience for these loyal members. Additionally, Team Power Smart wanted a physical presence, or installation, at Telus World of Science during the LEGO Castle Adventure Exhibition.
