smak is a full-service integrated media agency created in 2003

Our mission: create experiences that ensure your engagements with consumers turn into long-term relationships

We take traditional media to a new level and challenge conventional thinking. Our focus is a positive return on media investment (ROMI). We cut through the clutter and make your media campaigns come alive. In a time when many consumers are actively able to avoid advertising, it’s time to get integrated and creative.

Meet the team

Alan Bedingfield

Director of Operations

For the past decade, Alan has been living and breathing experiential marketing; but as cofounder and Director of Operations of smak he didn’t really have a choice. The appeal of liquid lunches and limitless expense accounts drove him into the Ad Industry, where he quickly realized that limitless expense account weren’t true – liquid lunches on the other hand… Alan has been fortunate to work with some of Canada’s top brands and creative shops including MINI, Future Shop, Movember, Leo Burnett, TAXI and DDB.

After holding various marketing roles in both her native South Africa and in Vancouver, Claire Lamont saw an opportunity to deliver truly ground-breaking creative campaigns. In 2003, Claire cofounded non-traditional, guerilla marketing agency smak with partner Alan Bedingfield. From the outset, Claire has directed the agency's creative forces in developing attention-grabbing experiential marketing for its clients. With a focus on delivering this keen innovation to the Canadian marketing industry, Claire has led cutting-edge creative efforts for clients such as Koodo Mobile, Nando's, Future Shop, BC Hydro and Whitecaps.

Jeff Berry

Director of Campaign Integration

The allure of the advertising business hit Jeff in high school. He spent the summers working alongside his father in the printing business. Working with Dad was cool but midnight shifts while his friends were partying in Toronto was not. His stepfather worked in the advertising business. He smelled of nice smoked cigars, dressed trendy and drove a hot car. That led to college to learn about media, marketing and advertising. He has never looked back and looks forward to continuing to navigate client brands and products at smak through Canada's changing media marketplace.
